NATHAN FLETCHER
In the late nineties, Nathan astounded the surf world with his iconic performances in what would be considered the heaviest surf in the world. Helping to re-pioneer the big wave scene, two underrated facets of Nathan’s legacy are his influence in surfboard design, reviving the quad-fin design from complete irrelevance, and kickstarting the big wave paddle movement as we know it today. Nathan’s standout performance at the 1998 Gotcha Tahiti Pro is still remembered to this day. Nathan is a veteran competitor on the WSL Big Wave Tour events. When he’s not competing, he can be seen threading some of the best waves out at Pipe, Pe’ahi, Fiji and the Outer Reefs. And when it’s really big, Nathan is out there sending it on the largest waves of the day. In 2018, Nathan celebrates 20 years with Vans, and today he currently resides on the North Shore of Oahu with his family.
